With a population of only 700,000, how did a small city like Frankfurt come to play such a dominant role in European trade and finance? Walk with me through the old town of Frankfurt to uncover the sights and stories of Frankfurt that made the city what it is today.
Frankfurt started at the beginning of the Middle Ages as a free trade emporium, becoming the marketplace of Germany. However, trade didn't require many people to succeed, and the city rented out its free space to the Holy Roman Emperor, who chose the location as the Imperial Election and Coronation Venues. Its role as the center of Germany, made it the natural capital and subsequent revolutionary center.
On this tour, I will show you the buildings and tell you the stories about how this city made Germany.
